Summary

The Department of Psychology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is recruiting for an open-rank clinical track faculty position.  We are looking for pediatric psychologists or health psychologists with interest/experience in working with children with catastrophic illness.  This is a clinical-track faculty appointment, with majority effort dedicated to clinical activities including the provision of clinical care, supervision of clinical trainees, and clinical program development. A smaller research effort (typically 10 – 25%) allows for academic productivity with a wide variety of opportunities for collaboration both within Psychology and across the institution.

St. Jude is a tertiary care hospital focusing on children with catastrophic illness, including cancer, sickle cell disease and other hematologic disorders, HIV, and neurological disorders.  This position will focus primarily, though not exclusively, on the pediatric cancer population. Prior experience with this population is desirable but not required.  The position will focus on provision of intervention for pain, and candidates with specialized expertise in pain are preferred.

The Department of Psychology conducts a full range of clinical and research activities.  Staffing includes 20 psychologists, (14 pediatric psychologists and 6 pediatric neuropsychologists). We are an active training site, with training provided at the postdoctoral, internship, and graduate student levels. Learn more about the Department at https://www.stjude.org/research/departments/psychology.html.

Candidates must have a PhD or PsyD in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-approved program with a doctoral internship, preferably APA-approved, and a post-doctoral fellowship as an applied psychologist. The psychologist will be required to have licensure as a psychologist with Health Service Provider designation in the State of Tennessee. We will consider candidates at any rank. Rank will be commensurate with previous experience.

St. Jude is an internationally recognized leader in research for children with catastrophic disease.  It has been consistently rated as one of the 100 best workplaces in the U.S. by Fortune magazine, was recently voted the number one place to work in academia by The Scientist magazine.  It is consistently rated as one of the top children’s hospitals for pediatric cancer by U.S. News and World Report. Salary and benefit packages are highly competitive and commensurate with experience.  Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
